Boyfriend pops question via girlfriend's favourite blog... and records her ecstatic reaction on his webcam

Most men agonise about how to make everything perfect before they pop the question.

But Matt Mordarski, 29, wouldn't settle for anything as tried-and-tested as going down on one knee - so he turned to technology to create what may be a unique marriage proposal.

The advertising executive from Ann Arbor, Michigan, asked his girlfriend to marry him with a carefully-planned post on her favourite blog - then recorded every second of her ecstatic reaction on his webcam.

He turned the recording into a video called 'she said yes!' and posted it on the internet, where it's guaranteed to send romantics reaching for the tissue box.

In the video, his girlfriend Lauren Proux is seen reading the blog post, entitled 'boyform' after their nicknames for each other.

He wrote: 'Matt (aka boyform) met Lauren (aka girlform) just a little over a year and a half ago and knew from the very beginning that this was someone special...

'One very lucky lady has the opportunity to win the ultimate prize: a lifetime of love from Matt. Lauren Proux, Matt would like you to please answer the following question.'

Her confused face slowly broadens into a smiles she reaches the final line: 'Will you marry me?'

The 29-year-old covers her face in shock then turns to Mr Mordarski, who is off-screen, and asks: 'Are you really asking me?'

He says 'yeah' and then leaps into his arms. She sits back down at the computer again, her face widening into an ecstatic grin,  before he comes back - and opens a ring box.

Then she says the words which, after all his planning, he may have been waiting for even more than the 'yes': 'That is the best way to propose ever!'

In truly modern fashion, she even took a second to write a comment on the blog post: 'Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!'

Miss Proux, a lecturer and researcher at the University of Michigan told MailOnline: 'I legitimately had no clue, so it wasn't until I read "Will you marry me?" that I realised what was happening. It was the best surprise of my life.'

She said: 'My response to the proposal was complete and total shock.  Not two weeks before, my mom asked if I thought he was ready to propose.

'I said no because Matt's a total planner.  I thought there was no way he'd propose without having every little detail mapped out (and at that point, how could I not know?).

'Of course, he was mapping out every detail.'

Mr Mordarski said he stumbled on the idea when he was trying to find the perfect engagement ring.

He contacted the makers of Miss Proux's favourite blog, the Bright Side Project, to see if they would run an entry asking users for their ultimate engagement ring, knowing she would post a reply.

The site runs giveaways from designers and artists, who post a question like 'what's your favourite memory of summer?' for users to answer. The best answer wins a prize.

In the end he asked one of her friends instead - but not before the blog's writers had suggested he use the site to propose, with marrying him as the prize.

So a friend helped him to Photoshop their two baby photos together and he sent the post off to the Bright Side Project ready to go live the next morning, before sitting Miss Proux down at her laptop to show her something he'd 'found' on the internet.

He told MailOnline: 'What's funny is that I never really planned to record it and just thought of it the night before.

'I was nervous about it but more nervous that something would go wrong. I never had any second's thoughts about proposing, I just wanted everything to be perfect.'

The couple, who had been together for about a year and a half when he proposed, plan to get married next May.

And thanks to Mr Mordarski's video, they don't have to worry about hiring a photographer - Miss Proux entered it into a competition on a weddings' website where it won them a weekend in New York and a free photos for the big day.
